Training Events

DESTINY will create an environment conducive to multidisciplinary and inter-sectoral training to achieve both the transferability of research results and the employability of the PhD students.

TRAINING FOR RESEARCH

IN BIOECONOMY

DESTINY aims to provide a well-balanced training programme based on complementary of its consortium. It will promote knowledge transfer in a range of working environments, multidisciplinary and inter-sectoral exchanges, and workplace mobility. The joint supervision, mentoring and training by two universities, coupled with secondments at associated partners, represents a key instrument in this strategy.

Every student will physically work at both PhD awarding universities. Additionally, they will be hosted by the associated partners at their premises in the form of either short stays and/or secondments (up to 12-month long). The short stays, in the form of industrial/company visits, and secondments will ensure practical relevance of the PhD research, serve as an instrument for knowledge and skills transfer between academia and industry, and increase the student employability.

The network-wide meetings will serve for the Supervisory Board to evaluate the network’s performance (PhD students’ projects progress, training according to their Personal Training and Career Development Plans), outreach, and new collaborations with other networks and projects. The network meetings will also serve as regular forum to interlink the doctoral research as well as to provide feedback and guidance on the overall research programme.

These network meetings set the inter-disciplinary working environment (whenever possible physically) and will be attended by all PhD students and members from the beneficiaries and associated partners.

DESTINY will provide dedicated training events via 3 research schools, forming the basis for the joint training to equip all PhD students with the theoretical and practical knowledge required for the individual research projects and to foster collaborations between the students.

In addition, 4 workshops will be organised in which the DESTINY associated partners from industry and academia will present practical insights, novel and sustainable business models as well as further research needs.
